Short History of the School

Miono High School was established in 2011, by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in collaboration with Belgium under School Around The World (SATW). It is a two phased project whereby phase one is completed. The phase two is expected to commence on July 2014 which involves extension of Dormitories, Classrooms, Staff Houses and completion of playing grounds.

The school was officially opened by his excellence Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete (The President of the United Republic of Tanzania) in 09th of October 2013. Miono High school is a special school for Advanced level in Science for the subject combinations PCM, PCB and CBG. The first enrollment of 170 form five students was done in July 2013.

In its capacity, phase one establishment will accommodate 384 students for which 192 are Males and 192 are Females. The future plan of the school is to double the enrolment from the present 384 students to 768 students in the career of Science

It's a Government plan to overcome challenges in school infrastructures which are faced by many ward schools. The Government's dream seeks to ensure conducive learning environment for Science students by providing school with enough Books, well stocked Laboratories and a school library.The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) Registration Number is S.4719 and NECTA Registration Number is S.5145.
